Intransitive Verb

Intransitive Verb is an action verb that has no object. The action is still being done, but it has norecipient. A verb, in dictionary, can be used as intransitive verb if it has v.i abbreviation on it. Example for intransitive verb:

• The glass was scaterred
• The telephone broke
• He is hugged
• Your boat was sunk
• The bomb is exploded

There're two types of intransitive verb,

Unaccusative

The subject of this verb does not actively initiate the action of the verb. In other word, the subject of this verb does not ac as the agent. Example:

• Smith died
• He falls

Unergative

Contrast to unaccusative verb, this type has an agent subject on it. Example:

• She is talking
• We run
